May Fayre 2025
It's back !
The Braunston May Fayre is back on Monday May 5th 2025.
As has become the tradition, our usually peaceful and picturesque village will be transformed into a lively whirl of activity with a thriving street market, children's fairground rides, family games, a local craft market in the church, a variety of stalls on Cedar St, games on the green outside the village hall, including a bouncy castle and coconut shy, and, of course, duck racing on the River Gwash.
There will also be two tombolas and a Grand Raffle.
As well as being a great day with fun for all the family, we will also be raising funds for the church fabric repair fund, the village hall, and the local branch of the Riding for the Disabled Association
Regular updates will be published in the Braunston News and on the village hall website. The success of the day in the past has been very much due to the enthusiastic participation of everyone in the village and we hope we can rely on you all to lend a hand making this Braunston's big day.
Visit the Village Hall website, or follow us on Twitter or Facebook for more information
Throughout the day, there will be food and refreshments including burgers, a hog roast, Mexican themed food and ice creams.
The Blue Ball pub will be open for beer and wines and serving speciality Punjabi style street food from Tandoori Kebab Rotis to Vegetable saffron infused Biryani to Butter Chicken and Pilau Rice.
In the village hall, there will be sandwiches and delicious cakes, all home-baked. We're enthusiastically welcoming volunteers to bake cakes, make sandwiches and help serve food and drinks on the day. Please send us a message if you'd like to volunteer!
There are various events scheduled during the day on the Street Stage which will showcase local groups. The Rutland Big Band will be coming, as well as street dancing from the RYDA.
Early afternoon the ever-popular Family Dog Show & Fun Day/Canine Capers event will be on again, ensuring that all dogs are safe whilst enjoying themselves, competing for tasty prizes. Everyone is encouraged to bring their four-legged friend and participate in what has become another high point of the day.
Throughout the day the famous Braunston Duck Racing event will be held at The River Gwash, with the Duck Derby at midday & The Quack National taking place at 2.30pm, with cash prizes for the winners.

Crowning of the May Queen
At 3pm the May Queen will be crowned at a ceremony which concludes with traditional dancing around the Maypole by local children.
After this the raffle prizes will then be drawn in the centre of the village, outside The Blue Ball.
Parking
As in previous years, the main streets will be coned off and parking will be available along Brooke Rd for just £2 all day.
The car park will be along Brooke Rd, on the left hand side as you exit the village. To minimise traffic congestion we ask that you approach the car park by driving down Church St and left into Brooke Rd, and when leaving, if you are going towards Oakham, by turning left out of the car park and back via Brooke Rd rather than through the village.

Free disabled parking will be available in the usual place in Hanbury Gardens, along Church St, and parking for stallholders will be on the Brooke Road playing field - just follow the signs.
